Delamere School has met the standard for Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award at Silver: Rights Aware.
This is the second stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award. It is granted by Unicef UK to schools that show good progress towards embedding children’s rights in the school’s policy, practice and ethos, as outlined in the RRSA
During our assessment last week our assessor spoke to children and staff. These are some of his findings:
“The children interviewed spoke about a number of key rights that they were aware of and enjoyed questioning the assessor about his knowledge of the CRC. Children’s voices and opinions are encouraged and nurtured, with learning adapted to suit the wide-ranging needs of children across the school.
It was clear that the management team and staff spoken with, are very passionate about the principles of the UNCRC, and understood how, along with RRSA, it supported not only their vision for school improvement, but also as a tool to ensure that every child is respected and has the best school experience possible”
