Music

Music at Delamere school is:

Sensory….

In our music sessions, we incorporate lots of sensory materials and props to enhance pupils’ experiences and help to describe rhythm, beat and the feeling of music.

Participatory…

Pupils are encouraged to work together, making music in groups and sharing their experience with fellow pupils. Playing together is an essential part of music making and pupils get to play along with live and recorded music as well as each other. We have weekly choir sessions where classes come together to sing and have even started sharing our choir sessions via zoom with a specialist school in Oldham… watch this space…

Inclusive…

We celebrate the local community at Delamere and inclusion programmes are an important part of that. A local primary school, St Michael’s, regularly takes part in our inclusion projects…

Exploratory…

Pupils are given opportunities to try lots of different instruments; we have a wide range of musical instruments for pupils to explore and experiment with. Pupils are encouraged to learn instruments as well as being able to explore sounds.

A shared experience…

Classes at Delamere often come together to make music and celebrate their achievements. We have regular performances and sharing events around school, as well as off-site…

Hedgehogs and Squirrels work together on the Summer Extravaganza

We have an experienced music specialist who works on-site one day a week and has the chance to work with all our pupils, as well as supporting teachers and staff to include music with their classes.

Music is an essential part of any child’s education and is celebrated at Delamere because it is recognised how music can enhance a child’s learning experience – and it’s so much fun!
