Please find attached a useful guide in relation to the ‘Momo Challenge’ that has resurfaced in recent weeks and has come to the attention of many schools, parents and many children across the country.
If you haven’t seen any of the recent media reports about ‘Momo’ it has been heavily linked to apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Minecraft, and most worryingly Kids YouTube.
‘Momo’ features an avatar of a ‘creepy’ woman with bulging eyes who sadly encourages children to hurt themselves. The game hides itself in the form of other normal looking games so that parents do not suspect it. Children are asked to complete various tasks that start to become more dangerous, such as taking tablets, burning themselves and harming others. The final challenge being to take their own life.
